“All combustion reactions are oxidation but all oxidation reactions are not combustion.” Justify.
i. Combustion is a type of reaction where a substance reacts with , usually producing heat and light, and during this process, the substance is . For example, when methane burns in oxygen, it forms carbon dioxide and water, with carbon being oxidised. Hence, all  reactions are reactions.
 
ii. Not all reactions involve or produce heat and light, e.g., in the rusting of iron, where iron reacts with over time to form without any heat or light being produced. 
 
Therefore, all combustion reactions are oxidation, but all oxidation reactions are not combustion.
